Trencin – City on the river

Type: Competition
Location: Trencin, Slovakia
Year: 2014
The proposal shifts the construction line closer to the riverbank, with footpaths and cycling routes acting as buffers. New buildings near the railway will serve as noise barriers, creating a peaceful urban space. City squares at the old railway bridge ends will connect the “old” and “new” parts of the city, encouraging pedestrian traffic, while green areas regulate temperature and air quality, reducing reliance on concrete. The old bridge will be repurposed for pedestrian and commercial use, with cafes and panoramic views. A multi functional mega structure to the north will include a mall, residential tower, and green rooftops, while commercial spaces along the railway reduce noise. The cultural center will feature a summer stage, transforming into a winter hub, while new docks promote river activities. Residential complexes between bridges will create thematic squares, and a multi functional hotel complex will adapt to seasonal needs. An aqua park will attract tourists, and a hotel near the stadium will cater to visitors with fortress-inspired architecture.
