The scope of the tender solution covers Entity 1 and Entity 2, located in the historical Savamala area of Belgrade. This region holds cultural significance, with key landmarks such as the Railway Station (which is planned to house the Historical Museum of Serbia) and the Stefan Nemanja monument. These landmarks were pivotal in shaping the concept of the space. Entity 2 represents a hub for alternative culture, surrounded by historically important buildings. Both entities were considered together in the design, ensuring a unified concept. Historically, squares were gathering places, and in this context, the “Novo Savski” Square and the Square at the corner of “Karađorđeva” and “Travnička” streets become central elements. The design of Novo Savski Square serves as a nucleus for the modern vision of Belgrade. The square’s design avoids elevation changes to enhance accessibility for all visitors. The Stefan Nemanja monument, as a key figure in Serbian history, symbolizes the origin of the concept. From this central point, a spiral shape spreads through Entity 1 and Entity 2, creating a network of paths that mimic the movement of people. The layout includes pedestrian zones, green spaces, bicycle tracks, and modern tramway stations, making the space accessible and vibrant. In Entity 1, the square is a gathering place with green areas, seating, and bicycle paths. The concept integrates a modern tramway system. In Entity 2, pathways and green “oases” complement the alternative culture aspect, with an abstract representation of Stefan Nemanja enhancing the connection between the two entities.
